Practice & Professional Experience

David is experienced in all types of chemical subject matter. His practice is currently focussed on pharmaceuticals and in particular enzyme inhibitors, women’s health, oncology and renal diseases; food technology; medical devices and cosmetics. David has broad technical expertise having worked for direct clients in the fields of gene delivery, fuel additives, chelates, industrial waste treatment, polymer chemistry in particular relating to ocular devices and metal/polymer laminates, adhesives, glass technology and silicate production. 

David joined D Young & Co in 1997 from another private practice firm and became a Partner in 2003. His client base and experience has expanded during this period. As a result David has extensive prosecution knowledge in a large number of territories, including South America, Middle East, and the ex-Soviet states and is able to provide strategic advice on worldwide filing programmes. David regularly attends interviews at the US Patent and Trademark Office and he continues to be successful in many oral proceedings before EPO Opposition Divisions and Appeal Boards.

David acts for multinational corporations, academic institutions and SMEs.

Qualifications

BSc in Chemistry, Imperial College, University of London.
Chartered Patent Attorney 1998.
European Patent Attorney 2001.
European Design Attorney.

Memberships

Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA).
European Patent Institute (epi).
Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
