Romania ratifies Unified Patent Court Agreement
In Romania, Law 81/2024 of 09 April 2024, which is for the ratification of the Unified Patent Court Agreement (UPCA), entered into force on 14 April 2024. Thus, for Romania, the UPC Agreement can enter into force on the first day of the fourth month after deposition of its instrument of ratification.
Assuming that Romania deposits its instrument of ratification in June 2024, it will become the 18th member state of the UPC Agreement on 01 October 2024, and the territorial scope of the second generation of the unitary patent will also include Romania.
